I’ve been more than a little infatuated with stripes recently. I think it all started with Big Sean’s Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay video. As soon as I saw this black and white striped body suit, my interest was sparked. Perhaps it was 90’s nostalgia; I rocked bodysuits HARD, but I think it was the idea that this traditionally nautical (or old school jailhouse costume), could be sexy.
When I searched my inspiration folder, I found more stripes. This adorable picture of Audrey Hepburn shows the innocent, ladylike side of stripes. With a cute side pony, it is perfect for everyday wear.
They say all good things come in threes. Or is it bad things? I don’t know but my new love for stripes was solidified by a recent visit to Neiman Marcus. When I saw this stunning skirt walk down the runway, I knew stripes were going to make an appearance in my summer/fall wardrobe.
When I found this Nordstrom’s dress, I knew I’d found the perfect stripes for me. I love the combination of the small and wide stripes. They add interest to an otherwise boring silhouette and forces the eye to shift, keeping the dress from looking too busy. I bought it one size up so it would be comfortable for day or dancing.
If I had any doubt about my choice, it was washed away when Mrs. Carter stepped out in this striped combo and it sold out almost instantly on TopShop.
Now, does this Beyonce pic make anyone else want a crop top?
