The year was 2003. Marc Jacobs was the creative director of Louis Vuitton and being the savvy business man that he is, along with a creative genius, tapped Japanese artist, Takashi Murakami, to collaborate with the classic label. Louis Vuitton is very popular among Japanese women and the move helped breath new life into the aging brand while embracing it’s already devoted client base. The collaboration was an instant success with the first bag bringing in $350 million in sales according to Time. The fashion world was buzzing over the bubblegum logos and playful characters. Sadly, that time is ending.
According to reports, Louis Vuitton will stop selling the Multcolore design by the end of this month. If you have been waiting for the right time to add one to your wardrobe, now is the time! If you already own one, take care of your soon-to-be collectors item.
Now this isn’t to say that new Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquiere is sucking the fun out of LV, although he does veer toward a more classic style than predecessor Marc Jacobs. There are still some lighthearted pieces in the upcoming Fall 2015 collection. The peachy pink clutch with mixed metal accents is a gorgeous addition. The Alma BB with what appears to be patches is fun and playful. There are lots of leopard options, like a Chanelesque cross body. See more from the Fall Collection below.
