There is nothing I love more than a pretty print…except maybe a gorgeous dress, so I was head-over-heels when I came across Glamazon Diaries shining in a golden vision of a dress with flounced layers from the new Johanna Ortiz x H&M collection. You might not have heard of Johanna Ortiz, but with socialite and celebrity clients like Beyonce, Michelle Obama, Jessica Alba, Olivia Palermo, and Sarah Jessica Parker, you’ve definitely seen her work. Still, with prices ranging from $150 for a bikini bottom to $3500 for a dress, most of us have passed her collections with little more than an envious glance.
Who is Johanna Ortiz?
Johanna Ortiz is a Colombian designer who injects her collections with a Latin American flair of ruffles, bare shoulders, bold prints, and strong colors. Each piece seems to hold equal parts laid-back femininity and polished elegance, making them perfect for day-or-night, casual-or-dressy.
“I don’t want my designs to only be for going to a wedding or a garden party, they can be worn to a bar or for hosting a dinner at home too — I want these designs to be a part of your wardrobe. Wear them with flats and no makeup. It works. It’s just embracing being feminine. I try to make collections really comfortable, designs that you can wear every day — but you can wear them with big earrings or whatever and go out in them too.”

Lest you think this mom of three does little more than make pretty dresses, she also founded Semillero, a foundation that teaches high-end sewing techniques to local women from impoverished neighborhoods. Ortiz also makes her clothes in Colombia and oversees a female dominated staff.
What I Purchased
I chose pieces that I could easily dress up or dress down. I wanted items I could toss on with sandals, flip flops, or sneakers, skip the jewelry and still look beautiful and bold. Check out all the pieces I purchased below and head to Instagram Stories + Features for the try-on.
